PLANETNOTION TELEVISION!
CAMERA-FOLK AND FILM EDITORS WANTED!
Planet Notion is looking for guys and dolls to film and edit features for its new TV channel, PNTV. Accompanying Notion to artist interviews, gigs, fashion shows, festivals and international events, you will be skilled, passionate and full of ideas about how to produce shit-hot video content. Camera-folk will be experienced and ideally have their own equipment, or at least access to equipment, while editors must be able to turn projects around quickly, and with stylistic flare. If you can both film and edit content, we would especially like to hear from you! These casual, unpaid positions would be ideal for those looking to develop their showreels, and to get the chance to travel, film major artists and top events.

Please email lucy(at)musichqmedia

SHOWS START MARCH 14: Sweet Jesus in a jumpsuit, has a better band come tearing across the Atlantic in recent years than Arcade Fire? The audacity, the epicness, the sheer power of what they do has left many bands scratching their heads as they realise that the bar has been monumentally raised by this outfit that blew so many people away with debut 'Funeral.' Combining some thundering rock orchestrations with the type of euphoric melodies and dynamics normally to be found in more gurn-friendly clubs, the group of multi-instrumentalists project an aura of magic and majesty - even in their darker, more mysterious moments - that will no doubt turn every venue they take over into their own malleable plaything. Abandon your will and place your senses in their hands as they showcase material from their forthcoming album 'Neon Bible.' Text: Karl O'Keefe MARCH 14th - 17th - Brixton Academy, London

TOUR STARTS MARCH 2: I'm a great believer in the old adage that you can fool some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time. How else can the dominance of bands like the Kaiser Chiefs be explained? Admittedly, they released some cracking singles, but a few good songs doth not a great band make. Furthermore, when compared to the better bands that came out at the same time as them a couple of years ago, they did seem to be little more than the cabaret crowd pleasers. It did make for an entertaining gig at the time, but it doesn't necessarily indicate longevity. Still, I get the feeling that they shall be rumbled on the release of their second album. Besides, if they do stay around too long, more people might begin to become suspicious at the fact that Ricky Wilson seems to have been hovering around the 28 years old mark for a while now..... TOUR STARTS FEBRUARY 4: Beautifully crafted, presented and executed musical gems are something that Guillemots have become synonymous with in their short tenure as everyone’s favourite new left-field poster boys. Combining beguiling arrangement with a lyrical ingenuity that melts even the most cynical of listeners, the fantastically monikered Fyfe Dangerfield and his musical cohorts have achieved the impressive feat of taking the somewhat acquired taste of their sound into some of the country’s biggest venues on this whistle-stop trip around the country. Spend a dreamy evening in their soothing company if you want something that’s good for what ails you. TOUR STARTS FEBRUARY 17: The old hype monsters have been cranking it up on behalf of these St Albans noisesters. Hear them proclaim Enter Shikari to be everything from screamo to post-hardcore via techno-rock. Either way they make an almighty racket that will have your eyeballs popping out of your head, along with a crew of deranged young fans in tow who will quite happily stomp all over your deposed peepers. Check it out if you’re feeling brave enough or if you’ve had excessive amounts of White Lightening. TOUR STARTS FEBRUARY 1: There seems to be a surfeit of blood based bands touring this month. What should we derive from this? That music is getting more murderous? That bands are prepared to spill claret in order to have their rider demands met? Lord only knows. Either way, Blood Red Shoes are a boy/girl drums and guitar duo that deliver a sharp punch to the ribs of complacent bands and fans everywhere. To see so much energy generated by two such slight characters is pretty impressive, so God only knows what will happen when they hit the road with fellow Brightonians The Maccabees, who seem to act like an unhealthy dose of E numbers upon their excitable young fans. Those of you with a nervous disposition stay clear. The rest of you, bring your own Sunny D. TOUR STARTS FEBRUARY 2: Considering that early 2006 saw Corinne Bailey Rae tipped as the woman for the top (great live show, anodyne album), we should perhaps be thankful that the devil has reclaimed what is his own, putting some sex and sass back into our lives via the whiskey soaked incantations of Amy Winehouse. Having received innumerable plaudits for Back To Black’s rump shaking, charcoal filtered soul, Winehouse should see her position as Britain’s premier female artist cemented with this tour. Throw support from Mr Hudson and The Library into the mix and this promises to be the gig of the month in a town near you. It should all prove to be an intoxicating cocktail that we encourage you to binge on without shame. TOUR STARTS MARCH 20: For those of you who like your music just a little bit on the demented and deranged side, you could do a lot worse than checking out the strangely beautiful and beguiling work of Kieren Hebden (AKA Four Tet) and Steve Reid. Having initially hooked up last year for 'The Exchange Sessions Vol. 1,' they pushed the boundaries of bedroom electronica into rarely explored regions of free jazz with great success and aplomb. The chemistry between these two chaps is an astounding thing, so their forthcoming tour should ensure that they continue to improve upon this pioneering sound, which will no doubt take on innumerable forms in the live arena. MARCH 20th - Phoenix, Exeter 21st - The Trinity, Bristol 22nd - Rescue Rooms, Nottingham 23rd - The Plug, Sheffield 24th - Academy 2, Manchester 25th - The Liquid Rooms, Edinburgh 26th - The Cluny, Newcastle 27th - Medicine Bar, Birmingham 29th - KOKO ,London 31st - Komedia, Brighton
